Maritime filming in the North West
North West England packs a lot of marine business into one region: Windermere’s launches and lakeside hotels, Liverpool’s waterfront with its ferries and cruise terminal, the shipyard at Barrow, wind farms out in the Irish Sea, and boating on Morecambe Bay and the Lake District’s other lakes. We cover the whole region: our boats travel by road, or we have the right boat waiting locally, crewed by our own skippers.
We bring the camera boat, the skipper, the camera and drone crew, and the permissions. Raw files arrive within 48 hours, or we cut the finished film.
Drones. Windermere, Coniston, Derwentwater and Ullswater are clear of restricted airspace, and so are Liverpool’s Pier Head and the Albert Dock. The upper Mersey off Speke is inside Liverpool John Lennon Airport’s zone, Barrow’s shipyard and Sellafield have restricted areas of their own, and Warton’s zone covers the Ribble estuary off Lytham, so each position is checked before the day.
