A boat set up as a launch platform for a drone: a clear deck for take-off and landing, room for the pilot and observer, and a skipper who holds the boat where the pilot needs it. We use a fast RIB when the shots are spread out, and a larger film boat when crew, a client or a second camera come too.
Yes. We supply the boat and skipper and work with your pilots, or we can supply the pilot and visual observer ourselves.
Yes. It lands on deck, or the pilot catches it by hand when the deck is moving or space is tight. Everyone on board is briefed on launch and recovery before we leave.
Usually, yes. Much of central and east London sits inside flight restriction zones or restricted airspace, and filming from a boat on the tidal Thames needs the Port of London Authority’s permission. We check the route and apply for what is needed, or help your pilot with the application.
Tell us as early as you can. We hold standing airspace permissions over the Thames, so we can often fly at short notice. Elsewhere we apply job by job, and the earlier we apply the better.
Yes, with the right permissions. We plan night flights around the airspace, the lighting and the boat traffic.
It depends on the boat, how long it is on the water, where you are filming and whether you need our pilots too. Tell us the shots and we will quote, usually the same day.
Yes. We work UK-wide, and in Europe on request, and check the airspace and landowner permissions for each location.
